Yet another diesel issue just as we were fueled and about to leave. Mikey the diesel guy came about 10:15. Give the balky solenoid a good rap with a hammer. Vice grips will do. Bought him a club sandwich as he came so promptly.
Thank you so much to everyone at Palm Cay for all their help. Special thanks to Janice who was such a joy to work with as we struggled with the diesels, parts, FedEx and the Bahamian customs. Also big thanks to Lisa at NavTours for her help.
On our way by 10.30.
Decide it is just too long and unpleasant to power into wind and waves most of the way to the BVI. What the hell. There are 4 of us and 3 would rather be sailing.
Dream Yachts Lagoon 62 left Palm Cay direct for the BVI. They expected to make the trip in 6 days. We will take longer.
Power sailed over to Highbourne and out the cut late afternoon. Then on to pass south end of Eleuthera.
Hugh crowd at Highbourne as we pass. Large powerboats at dock and out at anchor. Monohulls and cats in and out. Good restaurant. Not far back to Nassau to return after New Year’s.
Wind shifted enough south of east to sail. Engines off. Boat and people are much happier.
Pasted Carnival Sunrise cruise ship brightly lit. Tried to raise her on. hF. No reply

New Year’s Eve day. Nice sailing east. Took out reef after breakfast. Moderate swells.
Three watch rotation. Three hour watches.
A few flying fish spotted. One lying on the deck this morning. Several ships going by. Tanker Epsilon not only replied but altered course to pass behind us.
Several cruise ships went by in the distance.
Wind softened so we are motor sailing again. Tomorrow forecast to be light as well. Sure would rather be sailing. However calm seas are pleasant.
