If you want to make the gods laugh, make a plan.
Well sometimes these things don’t go as planned. We are home in Florida. Cassandra is still in the very pleasant Port Louis Marina in Grenada.
Yup – the usual. Repairs, parts, crew availability, schedules, weather, …
We spent a couple of weeks in Grenada trying to sort everything out and be on our way. The folks we worked with were terrific. Good weather the whole time we were there. The marina has a nice pool, bar and restaurants. Walking distance to a decent well-stocked grocery store.
Not helpful though not unexpected – Customs need to keep the autopilot head for two days. Easter weekend is a major four day holiday with pretty much everything closed the whole time. All boat service workers have the entire weekend off. Many people travel to take advantage of the long break so all the flights were full for several days both before and after the Easter weekend.
Last but not least, a series of Nor’easter storms were forecast for what would have been our passage through the Bahamas and the Gulf stream, so we cancelled. The storms actually arrived as predicted with major winds and dumping 25 inches of rain on Fort Lauderdale, messing up air travel back to Florida.
The saga continues…
