Unfortunately the lighting late afternoon wasn’t great. Taken from the deck at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club with a spectacular view of the bridge into Simpson Bay. There is a really narrow opening that was interesting for us with our 20 ft beam. Must be really nerve-wracking for the driver of something this size. They only have inches to spare and very expensive paint to repair if they misjudge the passage.
Recently one of the mega-yachts did hit the bridge abutment and caused damage to the bridge structure and the boat. In the image on the right, you can get a better sense of how narrow the gap really is and see damage from previous close encounters.

Do they need that much boat?
