Close call

Ok in the end but terrible experience. In the middle of the night Mike gets up to check on everything as it has still been pretty gusty. OMG. The dingy is gone. Very little my night worrying about consequences of that. Just when we thought we were out from under a pile of boat issues – engine problems, crappy weather, …

Valerie had not securely tied the dingy when we came back to the boat. It had drifted off and was spotted by folks on a nearby boat. They snagged it and tied it to the stern of their boat. They tried to hail on the radio. We didn’t discover that it was gone until much later.

In the morning there was no sign of it washed up on shore. Spotted it later about the same time the mooring fee guy came around. We told him the problem and asked him to keep an eye out and come back when he could take us on a more thorough search. He scooted over and confirmed that that was our dingy. Nobody up on the boat yet.

Later with Sher’s help go over and retrieve the dingy. So grateful for everything involved in getting the dingy back!
