Nassau at dawn

Change of plan. Wind and seas not conducive to heading for Eleuthera. Nassau is a better destination at this time. Too far to make it in short daylight. Overnight with daylight at each end of the trip. Left south end of the Sea of Abaco about 4pm. Good sail though a bit rough. Beam seas 6 ft. More wind than forecast. Second reef in the main and partial jib. We were still doing 8 kts in 15-20 kts wind.

We make good time so we rolled up the jib. With a couple of hours til dawn, we took the main down and powered. Starboard engine accessory belt started to disintegrate so we had to shut it down. Made it into Palm Cay on one engine mid-morning.

Belts that had been ordered but had not reached the Melbourne diesel guy before we left Florida are now on their way via FedEx. Over-night delivery won’t be delivered until the day after. Two night stay will have to extend another day.
