As the only marina guests last night we had lots of personal attention. Lots of explanations why there weren’t more boats. Cold weather. Rough Gulf Stream for the past week. People think all of the Bahamas are gone in hurricane Dorian.
The Abacos had winds 185 mph so there was some wind damage to buildings but the marina was not damaged. No fuel available yet. The season is mainly from March on so they should be completely functional by then.
The customs woman was there waiting for us. She was pleasant and efficient and took our $300 for our Bahamas cruising permit.
Felix the dock-master was extremely friendly and helpful. He found a large nut and bolt and washers to use to reattach the boom. He returned in the morning with coffee for us and to help reinstall the boom.
The store and office looked the same as always. If we wanted dinner they could do that anytime. Dinner at. 6. We pre-ordered conch fritters to share and the grouper dinner. They had everything on the menu available.
We arrived st the bar around 5:30 for a drink and chatted with the other customer waiting for takeout and the office lady / cook until dinner. The customer is the wife of Felix and the semi retired police Sargent. She had recently returned from a trip to Niagara Falls and Ontario wine country tours. The marina lady is from a town 400 miles north of Montreal. Lovely chatting with them and sharing the fritters.
Felix provided additional updates on progress elsewhere in the Abacos. Green Turtle was operational. As the have a generator for powering the fuel dock and the restaurant. Marsh Harbor marinas were hard hit so the are out of commission for the foreseeable future.
There are a couple of other boats around including two sailboats traveling together.

Green Turtle looks ok on the approach. Power is starting to be restored. Some of the nearby houses and docks are trashed but adjacent structures are fine. One of the big houses at the entrance to White Sound looks ok. The one next to it is rubble
We are anchored off Green Turtle. There are two other boats anchored nearby. Lowered the dink and took a little tour.
We will have to wait until tomorrow to get fuel at Green Turtle. Someone answered the radio. Said park anywhere. The generator is running but there isn’t anyone around. Minor damage. Docks look fine. Some lights and trees are lying on the ground. Screens in the dining room are being replaced.
I went for a quick dip yesterday. The water was pretty chilly so not going to bother today.
